Motovun is one of the beautiful Istrian towns. It was inhabited in antiquity, but it took on its present appearance in the 12th and 13th centuries. The first ring, from the 13th century, surrounds the oldest part of the city. Around Podgrađe, the newer part of the city, there is another ring from the 15th century.
